New Pitcher?

I am from a small town on Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island called Portsmouth. I was recently up north visiting family when I heard news that one of our very own from Portsmouth High School was offered a contract with none other than the Boston Red Sox! He is a pitcher and an outfielder, but he will most likely be pitching if he signs with the Sox. Before anything is for sure though, this possible rookie has to choose between college or the major leagues. I'll keep you posted!

RED SOX WIN 2-1!

After a tiring and discouraging losing streak with the Angels, it's good to be back on our way to the top. The Red Sox took home a win tonight, and an interesting one at that. Starting off the game was Tim Wakefield, knuckleball thrower, and Kevin Cash, catcher. Jed Lowrie, SS/3B, scored the only run so far in the game, leaving the score at 0-1 Red Sox for a long time. Then, a few innings later, a home run was scored for the Athletics, tieing the scoreboard at 1-1. The game continued on, past the 9th, 10th, and 11th innings, dragging on until 11:00 in the 12th. Making his first appearance as a Red Sox, Fenway Park welcomed Jason Bay to the lineup playing left field. It may take a while to get completely used to that Monster out there, but he seemed to be getting the hang of it. 2 outs, bottom of the twelfth, no one on base, Jason Bay comes up to bat, and knocks in an off-the-wall triple, leaving the fans on their feet. The pitcher and the catcher for Oakland decide to intentionally walk J.D. Drew, and Jed Lowrie comes up to bat. With the crowd holding their breath, Lowrie hits the ball, knocking it over the pitchers head and a little out of the defense's reach. Drew gets to 2nd, Lowrie gets to 1st, and Jason Bay, the newbie of the night, scores the winning run of this 12 inning game.

RAMIREZ TRADED TO LOS ANGELES, WELCOME TO BOSTON JASON BAY

The days of Manny being Manny are over. Well, at least with the Sox. While causing cantroversy between the players, not showing up for training and practices, giving last minute false injury excuses to the Red Sox management in order to skip a game, Ramirez even went as far as to claim the Red Sox didn't deserve him. Well, all of that was taken care of in a last-minute trade with Los Angeles.

Manny Ramirez, previous #24 left fielder for the Red Sox, was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday. In order to make the trade, the Sox had to pay off Ramirez's contract and give up two more of their players. 7 million dollars was given up as well as Craig Hansen, Pitcher, and Brandon Moss, outfielder, to the Pirates. In return, Boston recieved their new left fielder, Jason Bay, #44, and he was recieved with a huge welcome. Bay made some great defensive plays as well as an astounding off-the-monster triple in the 12th inning, and scored the winning run with a little help from Jed Lowrie, infielder, #12.

Although I may be sad to see Moss leave, I must admit that it will be good for him to be on a team where he will be able to play more games. With Boston, Moss constantly floated back and forth from Pawtucket, and didn't start or even play many games with J.D. Drew in the lineup. With Pittsburgh, Moss will be able to show off his skills by playing and starting more games, and for that, I am happy.

The Manny days at Fenway Park have come to an end, and I alongside many other Red Sox fans
will miss his character, his stellar hitting, and let's not forget his dreds. But for the good of the team, Manny is gone, and he's got most Red Sox fans yelling,

"MANNY WHO?"
